I Stink at Blogging

Yes, yes, yes. I know. I never blog. I maybe get to it about once or twice a year. I have become part of a fandom that I was not expecting to become part of. I am now officially a Whovian. Yes, I have discovered the wonders of Doctor Who! Just today we went to Free Comic Book Day and my husband picked up Doctor Who Trivial Pursuit for me for Mother's Day. Yah, I'm so not the flowers and chocolate kind of girl (not that there's anything wrong with either of those things.) I much prefer to receive something from Firefly or Doctor Who any day of the week.

Okay. So I have posted a few pics of projects I have completed or am in the process of making. I also wanted to share a bit of fun stuff that I have done like this Weeping Angel costume I made (Yes! Made from scratch!) which everyone kept guessing was just a statue or the Statue of Liberty.... except a little five year old who yelled out "A WEEPING ANGEL!!" as I walked by. Lil' Whovian. So cute! Lucky think this year I work with a teacher who is also a big Doctor Who fan and can understand my obsession. Anyway, enough babbling. Here's a few pics.....

My homemade Weeping Angel costume

My husband and I now have matching tattoos! Yay Browncoats!

Our tree topper this past Christmas. Made out of a barbie doll, some stone spray paint, and a pop bottle.

Summer and Such

We kicked off this summer with another CSTS event. I went as Saffron and won first place in the costume contest!

...Then my Terrifying Space Monkey went for $90 in the auction!

And I had a run in with Badger! (Drew Semper)

And then I finally got my tattoo started...

And then added color.

We also finally made it to The Fringe thanks to our good friends Sheelagh and Drew Semper

From Fringe with Love | Aug 15 – 25, 2013

...But then I had to say goodbye to my furbaby, Fergus

So this summer has been full of happy memories and sad ones. Hopefully, I can get some more products that I have been working on in the gallery section. Keep an eye out....

Like we needed another reason to hate fox. Oh, it's on Fox. It's on.

Start of a New Year

The new year has begun and I already have plans for some interesting projects. First, I need to get some Jayne hats done for this years CSTS. This is probably going to take up most of my crochet time, but  I have plans for many other projects. I have recently really gotten into Doctor Who and now I want to make the Doctors scarf, the T.A.R.D.I.S., a Dalek...... I also have a super secret surprise for this years CSTS that's still just in the idea/planning stages. I can't even give you a clue because it would just give it away. Come to CSTS in June and find out what it is! You could even end up going home with it if you're the winning bidder at the auction! Now on to more crochet......

Busy Season

It seems I'm always busiest this time of year with last minute orders. I've had some interesting ones, too. From the U.K. I've had an order for a very miniature Jayne hat for a Lego figure:

Also a few crochet beard hats like this one:

Pattern here: http://www.jjcrochet.com/blog/crochet-beard-hat-free-pattern/

A flower beanie hat for a sweet little girl:

...and another flower beanie hat that I still have to get a picture of ( I hardly ever remember to take a picture before I send it off!) Same goes for a brand new Terrifying Space (sock) Monkey with a Jayne hat that I just made a couple of weeks ago. If you want to know what that looks like, just have a peek in the gallery.

Here's the case I made for my laptop as well:

And yes, I also made the little skull and crossbones on it (not my original design, though).

I've also been busy making a snowman tree ornament for each kid in my class (including the teacher):

BUSY BUSY BUSY! But I still welcome any and all orders! :)

I Don't Have a Title For This So There

Like usual, summer came and went in a whirl wind and I only did minimal crochet. The only things I crocheted this summer were my purse and two keychains. They weren't even Jayne Hats!! In September, my husband and I donated blood at the mobile clinic and met a brand new fan of Firefly! So cool to meet the newbies, lol! We also met an old friend of Nathan Fillion from his highschool days, but her name escapes me at the moment. I'm already missing my days of sunshine and beaches, but the fall has been pretty good. I'm planning on getting a lot of crochet done every weekend and weeknight since the weather is going to just keep getting colder. I don't do cold. :P

CSTS 2012

Another CSTS has come and gone for another year. Andy and I had lots of fun this year and even got to watch Dr. Horrible instead of listening through the theatre doors. Last year I was madly finishing off the last of the Jayne hat keychains. My painting didn't go for as much as I would have liked in the live auction, but at least it went to someone who will love and cherish it. They even said they would give it a place of honor in their home. These are die hard fans, so I know they will. I even entered into the costume contest this year as Jayne. Check it out:

Next year I might go as another Whedonverse character.

And here is the painting that I donated:

This is before the shadowing for the letters was done. This painting was a difficult piece for me as I was using a still shot from the movie. In case you were wondering, it will remain a "one of a kind" from me for now. I haven't decided if I want to make another.

Just in case you are reading all of this and wondering what the hell I'm on about, please check out this site and then go buy the Blu-Rays of first Firefly and then Serenity. Trust me.

Counting Down the Days

Well, the keychains have been delivered and I've moved on to the painting portion of Leaf On The Wind's donation to the Edmonton CSTS. I know, I know. I should have been done loooong ago, but I am a procrastinator by heart. Can't you tell by how often I blog about anything? It gets my creative juices flowing I guess. I also have Jayne hat Christmas tree decorations started up. They're going to be so shiny. Literally. I think I'll get some Firefly creations done this summer as I have it off for two months. Should be plenty of time to get a couple of paintings and a ton of hats done. Should be.

That Time of Year Again

I have pledged 100 mini Jayne Hat keychains for the CCEE and can't wait to find out how they go over with the Calgary crowd! Now I have to make 50 more keychains for the upcoming Edmonton CSTS on June 23! I plan to make a few regular sized hats to donate for that event as well as sell here on Leaf On The Wind. I am also in the process of making a Serenity Logo painting for donation. This years will have a different back ground for the logo this time around. All of my products (sold and donated) have a little tag with the web address on them. Please have a look around and leave a comment here, on the gallery page or, on the testimonial page. Thanks and stay shiny!

It Never Stops

I have once again stretched myself thin by picking up extra projects. I keep thinking up new crochet projects to try out and working on them is getting in the way of actual orders. I do this to myself all of the time. My latest distraction is a Jayne Hat (surprise surprise) inspired laptop case. I need to make a liner for it and will be ordering that from Spoonflower as soon as I can. They have fantastic prints that I can't wait to add to my projects. I will post the finished project when I can. Also, I would like to upload my latest ami pics but I can't seem to find the cord for my camera. The pics are on internal memory instead of a SD card. Figures. (Insert big dramatic sigh). Right now I'm working on three sock monkeys like this one Terrifying Space Monkey.
